Summer Safety Tips

Summer offers the chance to enjoy outdoor activities that can be a beneficial for anyone, especially for someone living with a chronic medical condition or recovering from injury.

However, it is important to remember, physical changes related to aging, chronic health conditions and some medications can increase a person’s susceptibility to heat-related illness. Additionally, some common medications can increase skin sensitivity to sun exposure while others can increase the risks by interfering with the body’s ability to perspire and regulate temperature.

While summertime brings the opportunity to enjoy many outdoor activities and gatherings, safety must be a priority to avoid overheating and other risks to you or your loved one.

We’ve created a CareSource Guide that highlights how to prepare for spending time outdoors and signs to watch for to ensure that you or your loved one is safe in the summer sun. Read and download the Summer Safety Tips guide here.
